Annual General Meeting

We can't do it without you and your support!

Our Annual General Meeting is coming up soon. We are looking for nominees to serve on the board who can make significant contributions to the work of the board and the organisation.

Board member Duties & Responsibilities

So, why do we as the Cantare Organisation need a board? What does a non-profit board do?
Non-profit organisations are legally required to have a board of directors. The board is a mechanism for democratic decision-making, fiscal responsibility, and mission fulfilment. Here's a quick breakdown of a board’s purpose into four key areas:

  • Attending board and relevant committee meetings, functions and special events.

  • Advocate on behalf of the organisation.

  • Keep up-to-date on developments in the organisation’s field.

  • Managing and monitoring adherence to organisation policies and procedures.

  • Assisting the board in carrying out its fiduciary responsibilities, such as reviewing the organization’s financial statements, etc.

  • Short & Long Term Planning: Projects and fundraising events fundraising.

GOVERNANCE
Boards provide critical mission, financial, legal, and administrative oversight and organisational management to help ensure all decisions are made in alignment with our organisation’s mission.

FUNDRAISING
Board members help set and meet fundraising goals.

AWARENESS AND VISIBILITY
Board members build and maintain relationships that can help us meet its goals.

TECHNICAL RESOURCES AND SUPPORT
Board members have in-demand skills that can help us overcome challenges.
