  The Cantare Children’s Choir was awarded: “Outstanding Children’s Choir for 2006” on the annual awards ceremony of the South African Choral Society on 10 December 2006 in Pretoria. Receiving the award from the President of the SACS- Head Girl: Carlise Burger, Annemarie van der Walt – President of the SACS, Noël Jelliman the Chairperson of the Board of Directors and the Head Boy: Lohann van Wyk,

The Board of Directors also received an award for their contribution of developing choir music in the disadvantaged areas, Katlehong, Tokoza and Tembisa.

The National Lottery Board – Arts and Culture also received an award for an exceptional sponsorship towards the Cantare Development Trust which ensured that the Concert and Tour Choir could participate in the 4th Choir Games in China where
they received a Golden Diploma and Silver Medal in the Competition for Children’s Choirs. They participated against 41 children’s choirs from all over the world.
