The Board of Directors of
the Cantare Children’s Choir has now opened applications for a Girls
Choir. This choir will be administrated by the established office of the
Development choirs. Girls from 14 to 19 years from the Southern Gauteng
Region will be able to apply for the choir.
The vision of the new choir
is to be truly representative of all cultures that will produce a unique
South African sound, that will represent the community and world that will
be the benchmark of quality choral music, quality education and goodwill
between people.
The mission is to establish
the choir within the next 6 months and to undertake a national tour by the
end of 2007. Medium term goals are to undertake national and international
tours and to take part in various national and international choir
festivals and competitions Our long-term goals are to become one of the
most acclaimed choirs in South Africa and to become the most sought after
choirs in South Africa by 2009.
In addition to voice
training and musical development, the choristers will also be encouraged
to participate in conductor courses as to develop future conductors.
Tutoring fees will be R200
per month over a period of 12 months per year. This will include 1 choir
camp per year as well as a T-shirt. The hiring of choir uniform will be
R150 per year. Any girl with exceptional talent, who does not have the
funds to join the choir, may apply for a bursary.
A commitment of at least 3
years for this choir will be acquired From 2006 –up to the end of 2008

Successful candidates must
prepare themselves for tours.
National tour costs will be
approximately R5 000 and international tours R17 000.
Different projects will be
launched to aid choristers in saving money for tours and conductor
courses. It is expected that each and everyone participate in these
projects from the day that the choir is joined.
The administration office
will supply letters for choristers who would like to raise money for their
tutoring and touring funds.
